~$3B has been stolen so far in 2022, nearly double the $1.5B hackers took in 2021. And the frequency and scale of attacks are increasing daily with a record $760M in exploits this October.

Over the past weeks we’ve spoken to various protocols about web3 security and here’s what we’ve found out.

Protocols pre-deployment, fast growing protocols and protocols that have suffered the financial and reputational damage of being hacked — we all share the same opinion:

As long as there is code, there will be bugs and as long as there are bugs, there will always be hacks. However, in web3 context this often comes down to the question of life and death of a protocol holding lots of value on-chain. And given the statistics, existing solutions are clearly not enough.

So what can we do about that?

Salus’ mission is to help create a web3 ecosystem where security is more scalable, transparent and based on sound information streams, instead of guesswork and hoping that nothing will go wrong.

How Salus is going to help you close your security loopholes and deeper insights into our chats will be part of the next articles — stay tuned.
